the shop i work at was asked by the local state police to wire a system into a snowmobile that will shut down the engine by remote.  sounds simple, right? what im planning on doing is using a long range remote start module, crimestoppers rs 999, to trigger a relay that breaks the ignition circuit. i will use the ign. output on the starter to trigger the relay and open the circuit on pin 85, grounding pin 86, and using pins 30 and 87a to keep the circuit normally closed. the question i have is that the snowmobiles ignition wire is powered with ac voltage. will that cause a problem, or damage the relay? i don't think it will, since it doesn't trigger (pin85) or isn't used as a refrence(pin 86), but i don't know for sure if a relay will properley conduct ac voltage. any thoughts?

Why not just cut the fuel off with the relay?

If it doesn't have a Fuel Solenoid just add one.

NO FUEL NO RUN

well, moving parts fail. the pump is mechanical, and the state tech also said he'd rather not do that. i finished it yesterday, and it works great. neat project.
