A relay is to help turn devices on or off. You can have the neon turn on automatically if you have it run through a relay and a triggering device. Depends on what you are looking for as far as a turn on device. A door, or a trunk light or even off the remote of an alarm system. The possiblities are endless, just have to know what you are wanting.
