I've recently completed the installation of the digital gauges into my 64 tbird, and am thinking that i would love to have the gauges when i turn on the car to light up 1 by 1 from left to right (there are 4 gauges)... My gauges are also being run on the dimmer switch so that might make the circuit a little bit more difficult. Anyone care to give me a hand with this one.. I'm kind of dumb when it comes to this stuff...

1. What happens when each gauge is not getting its input from the sending unit? Does it read like 0 or infinity, or not display at all?

2. Are these gauges all in the same cluster, with one wiring harness for the whole thing, or do they have separate wiring for each gauge?

the temp reads like 38... the voltage reads what ever volts are running through the power wire, and the other 2 read 0 (for the fuel and oil pressure)

They are all in the same cluster... they all have seperate power wires, seperate dimmer wires, and seperate signal wires

I have all the power wires, dimmer wires, and ground wires spliced together right now

but it doesn't take much to unsplice them and put in a circuit

Ok...if the power wires can be separated that shouldn't be a problem. Directed Electronics and others make delay timers which can be used for this purpose; I would suggest DEI's since it can be adjusted for different lengths of time - not sure of the part number but I'll get that next time I'm at the office.

You may also need relays, but this should be doable without much difficulty. More instructions to follow, and if you like you can also reach me at chris@c-renners.com
