reversing polarity

Hello everyone I have a question that i hope someone here can shine some light on.  I am installing stock power windows from a 00 civic ex into a 97 civic dx so there is no wiring for the windows.  so I got all the stock switches and plugs that i am using but what my problem is the windows require that one wire be positve while the other is negative to roll up and to roll the window down the same wires need one negative and one postive but reversed from rolling up.  so if i have red and black wires on window roll up the red is positve and the black is negative.  on window roll down red would be negative and black would be positive.  please help me a diagram would be great or specify what wire goes to what number on the relay.  Thanks in advance for you input.  Nicolas White

I spent like 5 minutes to draw this up, but about 99% sure its right. You need to do trial-error with either the window motor wires, or the actual trigger wires .. as to which relay they are connected to. From the diagram I drew, polarity could be wrong, and cause the window go to up when DOWN is pressed.. etc.. but basic electrical theory behind the schematic should work. Both wires will rest and ground, and when either the UP/DOWN button is pressed, one relay will switch over, and supply one lead of the motor with 12V.

It is the same as wiring for 5 wire door locks. Substitute the word lock/unlock for window up/down. The previous diagram is probably incorrect if you are using factory switches, they use ignition power to trigger the relays as opposed to ground. Just change pin 85 on both relays to ground and 86 will be the +switched switch wires. Make sure to ground 87A.Certified Security Specialist
