Relay always working, device not w/relay

I have a relay hooked up in my car as follows: 2-button remote (garage door remote), with 2 wires soldered onto the remote circuit board. Those 2 wires go to a momentary push button. So the remote can be hidden in the dash, and there is a button mounted that you press and it's the same as pressing the button on the remote. Then the relay has +12v, my alarms trunk release aux output. Then 2 wires, that tap into each wire that goes to the button mounted on the dash. Problem: Every time I press the button in the dash, the garage door opens or closes. The led turns on, on the remote hidden behind the dash. Every time I activate the trunk release on my clifford remote, the relay clicks, the led on the hidden remote turns on, but the garage door does not always move. I can hit the button mounted on the dash and it will work right then. But when using the alarms aux output, it only works every so often. I can not figure out why. The hidden remote's led is lighting, so that's saying it's working, but the garage door doesn't move. Same remote, hooked directly up to a momentary push button works fine. Any ideas?

Before anyone says just use the button in the dash all the time. The only entrance to my garage is the garage door, and I have the dei garage door control, but that is not compatible with the responder remotes. And with the other remotes I had to many accidental openings, leaving the garage door open all day/night.

Your garage remote is too close to your alarm and the frequencies are bleading over to each other. Try  putting the garage door opener in the trunk with a wire running to the dash for the button instead.John DeRosa (Hotwaterwizard)
