if i touch the dome light wire to ground it comes on, so that means i have a negative door trigger correct?

well ive tried both illumiated entry for positive and negative and it does not light up. the alarm dome output is positve

i have a 93 chevy suburban and a alpine sec-8028 alarm

The dome light wire should be white in the truck at the light under the dash. For the Alpine alarm the door trigger should be BROWN / white but I think you need to program it to respond to a negative pulse. If memory serves me correctly, you need to set the dip switches inside the main module for negative. Forgive me if this is wrong as it has been many years since I did an Alpine alarm.

when i open the door with the alarm set it does not go off, does the alarm sense thru the dome light?
