What Zener diode do I use on relay?

What Zener diode do I use across 85 and 86 on my relay? what is the proper rating or part no. to use?

1N4001 1 amp diode will suffice for this.

Do not use a ZENER Diode!

It is different from a regular Diode.

A Zener is used to regulate voltage to a desired level.

A General Purpose or High Speed Diode is what you need.
