single pulse to double pulse

I have a normally open switch that requires a double tap. I would like to change this double tap to just a single touch. I am drawing blanks as how to do this, any help would be greatly appreciated. Its a 5volt dc line that requires two 5volt pulses to activate an overdrive lockout module. Pushing the current button twice completes the circuit twice and activates the lockout. Its a simple toggle on and off module. Almost any time value would work, but it would be ideal to happen in about one half second. Thanks guys
