Hi All
I have a Clan Crusader modified with pop up headlight pods worked via mini wiper motors. I have a momentary push button switch to trigger the wiper cycle and 2 stop ramps in the motor so they stop both up and down.
I'd like to trigger the popups from the headlight on/off switch instead. So I need a momentary switch closing when light are turned on and the same when the lights are turned off. I've tried to think of a relay solution to it without much success. Any ideas ?
Thanks

This is what I came up with.

Two Constant to Momentary Relay Circuits powered by the relay that will be flipped from one position to the other by the Headlight circuit.

Here is another one I came up with that uses fewer components.

The only draw back of these circuits is they may get out of sequence. You may need to keep the push button across the output just incase they are reversed. You would need to push the button as a Reset to synchronize the circuit.

You are a genius, I am truly not worthy of your talent.
I'll try creating a test circuit when I've got the components.
Many thanks for your help.

The Diodes are there to stop the EMF Spike as the magnetic field on the coil colapses.

ANY 1 AMP DIODE OR BETTER WILL WORK.

The Relays are usually found at almost any Stereo Shop. Normally used for Car Alarm purposes.

Best Buy and Circuit City usually stock them in their Install Bays but not in the Store.

Or you could buy two DPDT Relays At Radio Shack

12VDC/10A DPDT Plug-in Relay $8.49 Radio Shack Catalog # 275-218

Radio Shack is a good source.

10K ohm 1/2W 5% Carbon Film Resistor (5-Pack) $0.99 Radio Shack Catalog # 271-1126

1000µF 35V 20% Radial-lead Electrolytic Capacitor $1.59 Radio Shack Catalog # 272-1032

Diodes contain 200A surge. Peak Inverse Voltage (PIV) is 50. Package of 2. $1.39 Radio Shack Catalog # 276-1141

Total Cost about $25 If you get the radioshack Relays Buy the small Crimp Terminals that fit the relays.

Hi
Thanks again for detailing the component specifications.
The nearest Radio Shack may be about 3000 Miles away and google maps say to "swim the Atlantic"!!. So I think I'll get them from somewhere closer to home as I'm in the UK.

Hotwaterwizard, this second setup might not switch because the cap is left energized by the 87A contact and doesn't get a chance to reset in the short time the headlight switch relay is between the NO/NC positions.
Maybe use some solid state buffering?
