Hi...Not certain about a 2005 but, on the 2004 Grand Prix i did last week it was attached to the hazard flasher button. I had to pull the trim ring around the flasher unit which is located in the center of the dash, and the flasher unit came with the trim ring. just pull the 2 plastic clips back and the flasher/hazard unit comes out. Very easy.I bought a new unit from the dealer for $35.Which, by the way, didn't solve the problem. Which was the blinkers were messed up. To repair the problem i had to replace the blinker switch unit.
Hope that helps!   ^_^
