What kind of problem are you having with the fans?

They are not running at all.  There is no juice going to the fans so when the car idles it runs hot.  When the a/c or defrost is on it is drawing the engine down and running hot while sitting still.

There are 3 components that are crucial to the fan operating.  There should be a relay that is controlled by the thermal switch.  The switch is probably mounted very near where the top radiator hose hits the engine block.  There will probably be a single wire coming off of the switch.  If you find the switch, unplug the wire and touch it to ground, if this makes the fan turn, your switch is bad.  If it does not make it come on, you have a bad relay, a bad fan or a blown fuse.  There should be a fuse and a relay, look in your owners manual to see if they can direct you to them.

I will make sure these are checked.  The person looking at it for me is a friend of mine and he is a Toyota mechanic.  He checked something with a probe and said there was not any power going to the fan.  We looked in the manual for information on the relays but it didn't say anything.  It also didn't give much info on the fuses.  The fuse box top was more helpful with that.  The mechanic is the one who asked me to try and find the wiring diagram.  I'm kinda in the dark here just trying to find something I don't know anything about.  But I will certainly check the things you told me to.  Thanks for the advice.

http://pdftown.com/Honda-CR-V-1997-2001-Service-Manual.html    I know it is not the same vehicle, but on page 190 to 196 of the PDF file, it has a breakdown of the cooling system.  The Fan switch is mounted to the side of the thermostat housing.    Somewhere in the 1395 page file, it should also give location of the relay and a possible schematic that will help him.   Page 201 has the diagram of the cooling system.   In this vehicle there are 2 fuses that are required to be in good condition for the fan to work.  A 7.5 amp fuse in the passenger compartment fuse box.  Also a 20 amp in the under hood fuse box.  There should also be a fan relay in that fuse box.   If he finds the switch, if it has 2 wires on the plug, (it does appear that way in the pictures)  with the key in the on position, short the 2 wires together, if the fan comes on then, you have a defective switch.

Okay, so we found that the both of the radiator fans are bad on the car.  Any suggestions on where to get them for the least amount of money? The local car parts store wants $160 each for them.  Don't know if that is a good price or not.

I have never seen a cooling or an A/C fan fail on a Honda.  Hard to imagine that BOTH or yours are bad.
