Anyone notice that the colours are very similar to Ford Focus, which ain't too surprising, it's the same car. (At least along with Range Rover Freelander, Volvo F50 and the Euro Focus).

if it helps kjn6492, if you interrupt the ignition wire alone on this vehicle it prevents the starter from turning also.

Interrupting the ignition wire instead of the starter wire comes with a whole lot of extra liability for you and your shop.  If an Ignition kill fails, it could happen as you are pulling out in front of a large bus or a semi.  If a starter kill fails, your car won't start.  Hopefully you did not park on a RailRoad track.

T&t's post just confirmed my thoughts about Mazda3 and Focus, it's the same wire cut to disable Fords. I also agree with Tommy, but over here with Cat l alarms we are required to kill ign and starter, although with DEI's tacit consent, I'm only doing the starter.

now of course i respect everybody's opinion here, and all of you guys have helped me in the past, and i know that ignition kills are dangerous, BUT, locally and this is in trinidad in the west indies, car insurance companies insist that alarms fitted on to vehicles they insure have three points of immobilisation at least, which makes the "say no to ignition kills" hard to live by, recently they even had their personal techies come in and inspect vehicles we did to insure we lived up to our three point claims, and i must highlight this fact, my experience may not be anywhere near to you guys in terms of your years and knowledge in this field, but i have never in my electronics career had a single comeback where a customer said that the ignition failed on him and the alarm i installed was the fault, and i tell no lie when i say never.

t&t you are spot on, our Cat l product has to be installed with the following mandatory procedures. The unit has a metal case, this must be bolted or cable tied in a stealthed position, all power ground and immobiliser circuit wires are black, batt back-up siren, hood doors and trunk and of course 2 x cuts. I've had tacit agreement from two of the leading manufacturers to NOT cut the ignition, especially when ALL cars minus some Japanese grey imports already have perfectly good factory transponders. I HATE installing cuts because whilst I've also never had a failure from my wiring, I recently had a Clifford product where the starter cut failed, and a Viper where the wires were wrongly labelled. I was recently talking to DEI about future product and suggested a modular optional separate immobiliser that could be plugged in when required for imports.
