So here is the deal. I am installing a Carvox CX-999 in a 97 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I got it all installed and here is the issue. The remote start does not shut down with the brake pedal. The car refuses to shut down. The only way I could get it to shut down is by opening the hood. I disconnected the alarm. Another issue is the door locks on this vehicle. I can not get them to lock or unlock. I found all the appropriate wires and hooked them up right. Is this just a POS remote starter?

One thing that really threw my for a loop. When I applied 12 volts to the brake wire, the remote start would not shut the car off. So you could go for a spin, get out of the car and it would not shut off. I am reading a lot about this alarm and it appears to be junk. My best guess is that something is wrong with the alarm seeing the it won't shut down with the brake wire.

have u tryed to see if you have a wire on the remote starter that is a "IGNITION INPUT" if you have one on there connect it to the wire that provides a +12 Volt when the ignition is on and while cranking the starter!!

Hope this helps

Yea, I double checked the wiring. It really scares me that it won't shut off with the brake. I am going to try giving it a ground next. We shall see I guess. Are the power locks a paint to do on this car. I believe it is a 5 wire system according to the diagrams on here.
