The download section has a manual for the Viper 5701 which is the same as the Python 872.

What are you install it into?

It's already installed in a 2003 ford explorer. I'm just having trouble with remote start it won't stay running longer than 5 min even though it's programed for 24 min. I've already reset the tach learn so I'm just trouble shooting and want to make sure I have the right manual before moving on. Any information is greatly appreciated thank you smokeman1.

I would try going to menu 3, item 4, and try option 3 again.  Five min seems odd.  Did any other settings change for you? Just wondering if the brain is locked by a bitwriter.

I will be doing a viper 5301 in my sisters 2003 explorer, any snags on the install, vehicle I should know about??

The only problem I'm having is the tach sensing. the vehicle only runs for five minutes and shuts down and if i turn tach sensing off it runs full 24 min. The problem with that is remote start doesnt know if the engine started and the ignition will stay on for 24 min draining your battery. So I'm still checking a few things to make it work with tach sensing. Do you know if I can hook up tach sense wire to battery and switch it to voltage sensing?

Have you tried to change the from the default position to the ON position?  And then do the tach learning setup. Pages  53 & 54.  I too was having a tach issue with my 2000 Taurus on tach. It suddenly dawned on me to change the jumper.

Are you sure you have the tach wire?  Tested with a DMM?  Start the car press and hold the button on the antenna until the blue light stays soild. If you are not on a tach wire it will not light up.

Yes it is on the tach wire the light does llight up and stay lit like it is supposed to for some reason its just not working like it should but like I said turning tach sense off it works fine for full 24 min. Any other suggestions are welcome greatly appreciated.
