I am installing a Python 1401 on a 2003 Mitsubishi Galant and thought i had all of the wiring right. The problem that i am having is that the remote start wont engage the starter and the key wont work either. However, when i engage the RS and turn the key, the car will start. Also, when i remove the key, the car will remain running until i disengage it(brake, hoodpin, key fob, etc.). Any tIhoughts as to what the problem might be?
i also have the bypass, but havent installed it yet. I want to get the starter to at least turn over before i proceed.
Help is always appreciated

You've asked the question and answered it mentioning the by-pass, try installing that then come back and ask your questions.

Does the 1401 have a starter disable, Green to ign switch side and purple (violet) to starter side, have you got them the wrong way round?
If right check your joints.
You really need to meter everything, get back to starting it with the key then install the by-pass.
Please read and learn from my signature.

I have metered everything and when i remote start the car, its not giving power to either side of the starter wire that i cut. The way i have it wired is:
o H3/1 Pink (+) Ignition 1 Input/Output (wired to ign 1)
o H3/2 RED / Wh (+) Fused Ignition 2 (no ign 2)
o H3/3 Orange (+) Accessory Output (not using)
o H3/4 Violet (+) Starter Output (Starter side of starter wire)
o H3/5 Red (+) Fused Ignition 1 Input (wired to 12V constant)
o H3/6 Pink/Wh (+) Ignition 2/Flex Relay (not using)
o H3/7 Pink/Blk (+) Flex Relay In (not using)
o H3/8 RED / Blk (+) Fused Accessory/Starter Input (Ignition side of starter wire)
Help is always appreciated
