I'm trying to find a hookup for my remote wire w/o putting and inline switch and I'm keeping my factory H/U also. I've been searching for awhile but no success and any help will be appreciated.

do an ebay search for "radio remote adapter" and see what you think of the one that Directed Audio offers.

You could go to the ignition switch and get the brown accessory wire....

using the brown wire is ok but the amp would be on all the time the truck was and your radio might make a big pop through the amp when you turn it on or off.

worth giving a try, but i wouldnt do it because amps dont like those big transients .... but if your amp is not expensive... thats another thing.

would it just be easier to put an inline switch? If so what would you recommend I tap into, I was thinking the cigarette lighter.

no. cos if you left the amp on, it might cause dead battery by morning.

use something that is only powered when the radio is. something that works with the key "on" and on "acc".

is here an "acc" port at the convenience center on the firewall near the drivers kick panel?

There is nothing in this truck powered just when the radio is. There is nothing in this truck that is even powered just when the key is on other than the brown accessory wire. Use it, works fine...

Yes. If you remove the knee bolster under the dash you will see a harness coming down the column from behind the shroud. It's on the left side of the column, traveling down from the ignition switch. There may be more than one brown so test. Also, i have seen some GMC's that use a yellow instead of brown for accessory. The wire is fused 2 amps so it's only good for turn on, nothing else...

what voltage does it read at? I think I only have one that reads at 14v.
