fiesta u.k door triggers

hi

 I was wondering if anyone could help with the door trigger wires on a 1998 fiesta mk4, its on a 3 door car and i thought that the door contacts were both linked together on the BLACK/ red that i have picked up at the drivers kick panel, both switches work as they operate the light but only the drivers side seems to trigger the alarm, any info would be greatly appreciated

 thanks for the quick resonse howie II, i had connected at the drivers footwell and not the passengers which turned out to be the problem , the wire colour was correct (BLACK/ red) but the location was wrong.
