I have 1998 ml320 that I recently resurfaced heads and engine overhaul. To do this I disconnect and removed the battery , I mean who wouldn't when performing an overhaul, right?! Anyways assembled replacing the required parts added all my fluids to appropriate levels checked for leaks, none. Connected the + - battery cables together to reset system due the unplugging of basically all the sensors plus it's required that you do so if you had a blown head gasket because this is the only way to reset the running rich information stored in ecm or live data. I install and connect the battery and as the tech data suggest I hand crank the start with a jumper wire a few times. After about almost a 5wks I finally go to turn this baf boy on and NOPE just as I thought I was about to go on a adventure I get a crank no start. I purchased the pricey timing alignment tools a mandatory set of tools to ensure precise timing is set so it's not that. I'm told it's due to my disconnecting of the battery blah blah blah blah blah few thousand $ fix performed only by the dealership master mb techs. Any fellow macgyver buddies already bypassed this so called non bypassable system? If not can I get a few detailed stock wiring diagrams and the locations of the modules so I know at least where to start. Specifically the aam, das, antitheft system. Thanks for any ideas or any directions on where to find this info.
