Im installing a simple $20 stereo into a 1994 chrysler LHS with the previous head unit is missing but the existing speakers are still there which makes this all the more complicated because they are the stock Infinity system. I am able to get power to the head unit but no sound from the speakers. This is where i am stuck and need to be moved in the right direction.

Hopefully the factory plugs are still in place?  If so, just use a standard Chrysler wiring harness ( Metra 70-1817 or equivalent) and make sure you hook the aftermarket stereo's blue amp remote wire to the blue wire of the Metra harness.  This will ensure that the factory infinity amp gets the turn-on signal.  Also if there's a GREEN/ black wire that's just loose back there behind the dash then you'll need to make sure that's hooked up to a ground.
