Metra wiring harness for 99 Cougar?

I'm installing a head unit in a 99 Cougar, I ordered the kit that all the Metra Guides called for in this vehicle, 70-1770.  I wired it all in and when I went to install it, the wiring connection were wrong and won't connect.  If anybody knows the number for the harness I really need, let me know.  Thanks, Jason 

Jason, The 70-1770 is the correct wiring harness for that vehicle. I've used it on Cougars as well as Ford Focuses; it's kind of weird how it plugs in, which confused me at first too. The gray aftermarket connector with the power and ground wires goes to the 7-pin black connector on the vehicle. The black aftermarket connector with the speaker wires goes to the 8-pin gray plug on the vehicle. This is different from how the 1770 plugs in on every other Ford, but it works.
