1992 grand marquis stereo wiring

anyone who can help,

i recently bought a stock 1992 grand marquis ls, im replacing the stereo with my alpine and i connected all the proper wires and everything and i get power...but the speakers dont work...and i found out its b/c theres a thick grey cord with a black plastic and silver end that looks like it slides into something and thats what makes the speakers work...any idea what i do with this piece?? cuz i have no idea where to put that on my alpine..and untill then i got no sound....any help is appreciated

If you cant figure it out then I would just run new wires to the speakers from your new radio.
