Hello, I am planning on installing cruise control in my 2001 Jeep Cherokee. On this site, it says to access the tach signal from the coil. This Cherokee model has the inline six-cylander engine, and the coils are built right into a rail that connects to the spark plugs. Where is there a better place to access the tach signal? I know a lot about electronics, but not a lot about cars. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I just installed a Remote Start unit in my 01 Cherokee and had to use the Tach wire also.

One source said to use the Grey Wire at the Black connector on the PCM. Tried that

and couldn't get the unit to recognize the signal. Was then told to tap in on the "Odd Color" wire

on the Fuel injector wire harnass. It worked there .

That may be your option ?

Thanks a lot for the info. I actually already installed the cruise control. I used the grey wire coming from the coil/spark plug rail. It works great.
