I am trying to install the Delco factory radio/CD/cassette unit from an '03 Silverado into a '99 Silverado (new body style).  The radio is a Delco 15184933 with RDS and people are saying it can't be done because of the data wire in the '03, but I'm not convinced yet.  I have the radio and a mating Metra connector 71-2003-1 (a 24-pin and a 12-pin) and need to know how to match up the Metra wires with the factory harness in the '99, which has a different connector with 13 wires attached to it.  Any brave installers try this before?  Thanks!!!

Better get the BCM from the '03

The way the DATA RDS radios work is they have to be programmed.  When we swap radios in New Chevy's we have to hook up the TECH 2  & download info from radio, then upload to G.M. to receive DATA, then download back into vehicle.  That's just to program radio

Hi Mo- What's a BCM?  I planned on taking the truck to our local Chevy dealer to have it programmed after it's wired up, but I can't figure out which pins in the '03 radio connect with which pins in the '99 radio harness.  I know what each color wire in the '99 harness does but not the pins on the radio.  Any idea?

Well looks like my inexpensive upgrade is turning into a major project.  I called our Chevy dealer and they wanted $880.00 just for the wiring harness to accept all the new parts!  Thanks for the help Mo, looks like this radio will end up on Ebay.
