2004 Ford Expedition Crossed Wires

I was wondering if someone could please help me out with an issue I ran across today.  I have a 2004 Ford Expedition with premium sound and installed a brand new receiver and seem to have crossed some wires.  Another member sent me to this post https://www.the12volt.com/installbay/forum_posts.asp?tid=51199&KW=ween for the radio harness.  I took pin number 1and spliced it with the yellow wire and took pin number 2 and spliced it with the red wire.   The problem I was having was that the radio and amplifier would stay on consistently even when the vehicle was off and key removed.  So I ended up switching the wires, so pin number 1 is spliced with the red wire and pin number 2 is spliced with the yellow wire.  Only problem now is that when the car turns off and key is removed it loses the memory.  Can anyone please help?

how long does the radio remain on...indefinitely.  pretty sure the vehicle has retained power, which allows the radio and other accessories to operate for a short time, or if a door is opened.  if you remove the accessory power lead when wired the first way, the radio turns off correct?  i'd check the lead in a car with a multimeter, watch if the voltage drops.  most head units these days use a small amount of current to turn the unit on.  you may have to add a resistor (1000 ohms) across this lead to ground to bleed down the voltage to a level that makes the new headunit turn off

When wired the first way the radio and amp stays on indefinitely.  I thought once I would remove the key and especially once I opened the door the system would turn off, but it does not.  Do I need to wire the the head unit the way I had it before?

i would wire it the first way....battery lead at car harness to battery lead of radio etc... then try to determine what is going on with the accessory lead.  would help to have access to a multimeter for this part though.  check and see how the voltage drops off, with the new radio disconnected.  it should go to zero or thereabout once it times out or the door is opened.  then connect the radio and do the same thing. if it doesn't decrease then the radio may have circuitry (capacitor) inside storing the voltage.  i would then try the the resistor on the accessory lead as discussed earlier. hope this helps.
