I just finished adding blocking diodes to my wiring harness for the alarm system.  I taped up all the exposed wiring including the plastic part on the diode.  Is this the correct way to do this?  I have never used diodes so I don't know.  My experience tells me that all exposed wiring that can ground should be securely taped.  Thanks in advance.

Yes that is a good practice to get into, I usually use heat shrink tubing for all straight wire connections ( including resistors and diodes ) and use electrical tape for all "T" connections.

What type of diodes should be used?  For instance, if a resistor & diode is being used for unlocking/ unarming on a single wire system there may not be enough voltage (0.7v) for the -ve trigger to allow the diode to "open the gate".?

You need to use 1 or 2 amp diodes.  You can find them at Radio Shack.  Brian
