'98 nissan 240sx cruise switch

I am wanting to use my cancel button for the cruise control to operate the mute button on my radar detector. Is there any where I can get information on what type of switch it is or if I can splice the wires near the ecu? I'm hoping that the cruise control "box" on the steering wheel isnt electronic because that would probably rule out my idea...any information highly appreciated!
