I've purchased the 551-T remote starter last week and have received it a couple of days ago. Before the install, I just have a couple of questions? The wiring info provided for the corolla is not complete and I also have a couple of questions regarding some of the wires..

I know it's really really really long, but I would appreciate it if all 7 questions are thoroughly answered to avoid any confusion on my part.

Where do I tap the following?

1.Activation Input wire

2.Factory Disarm wire

3.Tach input wire

Is it necessary to wire?

4.Ignition output to RF system

5.Factory security re-arm

6.wait to start input

7.output to second and third ignition

1.Activation Input wire:

  • This wire is for a alarm/OEM remote output wire that will trigger the 551T to start the syste to activate the start sequence. This is usually a ground output signal from the alarm/OEM remote

2.Factory Disarm wire :

  • NOT USED if you do not have an OEM alarm system. This grounds out prior to remote start to disable the OEM alarm system if the vehicle has a separate disarm wire. Otherwise the 2002 Corolla has it along with the UNLOCK of the door.

3.Tach input wire

  • Go to any one of the ignition coils under the black motor cover and use RED / blue, YELLOW /GREEN, gray, or white.

Is it necessary to wire? YES

4.Ignition output to RF system ?????

5.Factory security re-arm

  • If you have a OEM alarm then what you want to do is attach this wire to the lock wire as well so it will arm the system after remote start. If you have no OEM alarm, then this wire is not used

6.wait to start input : NOT USED. ONLY FOR DIESEL ENGINES

7.output to second and third ignition :

  • There is a BLACK.WHITE wire in the ignition harness that needs to be powered up along with the primary ignition. If this wire on the 551T is a 12 volt output then attach it straight to this wire. If this is ONLY a (-) trigger then you will need to attach this to a relay that will reverse the polarity to a high current (+) trigger .

1. Activation Input wire... where exactly do I tap this wire to? ( location of wire and color of wire?) The corolla has an OEM alarm/keyless entry. I've heard that I can just hook this up to the wire that "locks/arm" the door when arming/locking?

2. Factory Disarm wire... Since it has an OEM alarm, which wire do I connect this to? or I can just tap this in to the wire that "unlocks/disarm"  the door when unlocking/disarming?

Use the UNLOCK wire for the remote start activation because you need to disarm the OEM security system before the remote starter can start the sequence otherwise the OEM alarm will go off. Then attach the OEM security re-arm wire to the lock wire to re-arm the system after remtoe start. You will not need the disarm wire at all because the unlocking of the doors will disarm the OEM system.

The 2003 is not the same as the 2000 model year Corolla. These are totally different systems as well as totally different model year cars. The 2003 was redesigned from the 2000 model year and the ignition was also changed.

If tapping the activation wire to the unlock wire, how would I activate the remote start? Will it actually unlock the doors physically and or give me the park light flash and audible confirmation? I ask because, I've heard that I can tap the activation input wire to the lock position, and to activate it, I will just need to click on the arm/lock button 3 times. Can you confirm? I would rather do it this way so It doesn't "physically" disarm/unock the car with an audible and park light flahs confirmation.
