Hello,

Vehicle: 2005 Mazda Tribute 4Si.   Alarm: Crime Guard 533i4:

I have been told by Crutchfield techs that the parking light +12V wire is listed in the 2004 wiring diagram as a solid "brown" wire. I found a few brown striped wires, though not a solid brown wire anywhere.

I am installing this alarm, and need to find this wire and have looked everywhere.Drivers kick panel area especially was searched and no brown wire located.
Can anyone please list where in the vehicle this wire would be located. Also have seen where this same parking light wire has been listed as green and black for other 2005 Mazda Models.
The tech department at Crutchfield only has the diagram for the 2004 Mazda Tribute, and also indicated it was also a brown wire, but they do not know where it is located in the vehicle.
I have a digital voltmeter, but there are too many wire looms in this car to cut them all apart to find a brown one.

Would it be possible to tap this wire at the tail light, where it is receiving +12V when the parking light is switched on? I am not sure if that would make all 4 lights (parking and tail) flash as the same time, as intended......

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Regards,

George

What about going to the parking light switch? Did you try that?

Hi,

I tried that wire first and it didn't work. It is a red and yellow wire on the light switch.

Crutchfield said that it didn't work because that is a (-) 12V for the parking lights, and the wire I need to located is the (+) wire for the parking lights. Now they are saying that a brown wire at the SJB, or amart junction box will work.  That fuse box \ junction box is a pain to get to since it is deep inside the center consoleparking light wire, 2005 Mazda Tribute -- posted image.

That was after the fact I had the alarm working , other than the parking lights were not flashing as expected.

Thanks though,

George

is there a WHITE/ black wire at the headlight switch? this is (-) for parking lights

the brown wire is (+) at the kick panel

can't you just use a relay to invert polarity if your alarm system only has a (+) parking light output? I know DEI alarms have jumpers on the side of the module to change the polarity of the parking light output.

I would like to use this wire , but I do not see in the kick panel area.

There is only a large Brown \ Yellow striped wire on a harness in that general area?

Have you ever seen this wire there first hand?

I was hoping to get a better description than the drivers kick panel, I open the kick panel door, and there is nothing in there, there are wire modules and looms above the area and to the left though.

Thank you,

George

is there a reason why crutchfield says not to use the wire at the switch?

Crutchfield said that wire didn't work because that is a -12V (-) for the parking lights, and the wire I need to located is the (+) 12V wire for the parking lights. Now they are saying that a brown wire at the SJB, or Smart junction box will work.  That fuse box \ junction box is a pain to get to since it is deep inside the center consoleparking light wire, 2005 Mazda Tribute -- posted image.

That was after the fact I had the alarm working , other than the parking lights were not flashing as expected.

As above, posted, I might be able to use a SPST automotive relay to invert the polarity to (-)12V and use the B/W Wire at the switch, but they didn't  seem to want to provide assistance in that direction. There was some hesitation to not complicate things further using a relay that they did not supply with the unit.

Thanks

Take the kick panel apart. There will be two main harnesses. One goes down the driver side of the car. The other comes under the drivers floodboard area. Open that one up and your brown (+) wire is in there. This assumes you have a vehicle with the newer style wiring that has the fusebox cover on the kick panel, but no fusebox behind it.
