I am installing an aftermarket keyless entry/remote start in a 96 gmc jimmy and am having problems getting my door locks wired properly. I can find the light blue and white wires on the stock TRW keyless entry unit under the drivers kick panel, but these are positive and the aftermarket unit i have needs negative wires which dont seem to be connected to the TRW unit. So i need to know where they are or an alternate solution. Thanks very much for any help.

hey, in the basics section of 12 volt, click on relays , click on converting polarity under the relay heading.   the first pic you see is the situation you need, called "convert a negative output to a positive output" do as the pic shows and your done. you will need 2 relays to do this. one for the lock and one for the unlock.  it is easy to follow even if you have not used relays before. in the pic, in laymans terms hook 87 to the vehicle lock wire, 85 to R/S lock output, and hook 86 and 30 to constant power.  you will not use 87a(cut off and tape up. for unlock hook 87 to vehicle unlock wire, 85 to R/S unlock output, and hook 86 and 30 to constant power, and again 87a not used!! your wires are in either kick panel, and you are looking for the correct colors.  the TRW unit is not in kick panel but under the lower dash panel of the drivers side, look there!!! If thats what you meant where you were looking for the TRW then sorry, go with catching the wires in the kick panel. this is a link to a photo of your TRW...http://www.directwholesale.net/diagrams/Images.asp?ImageID=69&link=BULLDOG.

sorry i might have confused you, i misread your post, i thought you said you could not find the right colors at the TRW which made me think you were not at the TRW!! all you need is those relays i mentioned, wired as described and hook your relay pin 87 from each relay  to those correct wires found at the TRW!! and you will be done!!!
