I know the speaker wire colors coming out of the back of the stereo and the harness colors. However speaker wire colors change at the actual speakers on a 2006 Toyota Tacoma.
The rear speakers are not a problem since there's only one speaker in each door. However the fronts have a woofer and a tweeter, so my question is which wires are the main left and right door wires?
Does the same set of + and - coming from the stereo harness split (and where) to the tweeter and woofer?
I was just going to hook my upgraded separates "Polk db6501 to the lead going to the woofer. Is this OK or do I need to connect somewhere else?
Thanks

I'll post my solution myself in hopes that it'll help others who run into this issue.
First all 4 connections use different colors codes when they reach the actual speakers on 2005-2007 Toyota Tacoma trucks. To find out which wire is + and - I used a 9volt battery and attached it to the stock speaker wires when removed from the vehicle. When the current is applied from the battery terminals to the speaker wire the cone of the speaker will either move out or move in. When the correct + and - is attached the cone will move out or forward. (thanks to PB at customtacos forum for this info). This is how I determined which wire was _ and + for proper hook up.
The front doors have both tweeters and woofers, the wires run to the tweeters and then back to the woofers, the crossover is installed on the tweeter itself. You'll have to bridge the wires that go to the tweeters with the wires coming back, they are the same colors which makes this easy. So if you replace the tweeters and woofers you'll have to re-wire unless you use tweeters with similar built in crossovers.
