i have a 15" flipdown screen and it worked and played fine and then the other day i turned it on and the screen didnt do anything just stayed black but the buttons on the bottom of the screen still lite up. i was told the screen went out that it was no longer good and just needed to buy a new one. is this true or is there some way i can open up the screen and fix it?

thanks

Pull the screen down and open it up.  It maybe a loose harness, but there is only 1 way to find out.

That looks like transistor smoke to me.  It is probably the power supply for the fluorescent bulb.  Can you see one or two burnt transistors on the board?
