Hey guys,

I have researched the heck out of this and I think Toyota made a change or something since the 2008 models.  I just installed a Pioneer Avic Z1 and tapped into the PURPLE / White wire at the ECM (2nd Plug up from the bottom.  Problem is, my head unit does not show any Speed Pulse values when I drive.

The pictures I have seen on other forums like Avic411, etc all show the ECM plug being White.  Mine is Black, and Im wondering if they changed the wiring config.  I have yet to see anyone install anything like this in a 2009 Tacoma.

Does anyone have any info on the VSS wire for a 2009?

Also, I saw on another post that if you vehicle had a factory deck with SCV, that the speed pulse wire would be in one of the factory harnesses.  If anyone knows where it is in there, it might be easier to get to to tap.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Greg

I've done a few of these trucks and always get it the same place. On the front of the fuse box/BCM there is a black 13 pin plug, pin 5, PURPLE / white....

Where is this box?  The place I have seen others tap it is behind the glove box.  Its the second plug up from the bottom, plugged into the silver box on the far left.  Thats the one I tried to tap (PURPLE / white) with no success.  Seems like there might be more than 13 wires in that plug though.

Am I looking at the right place?

I would go count the wires right now, but Im out of town for work.  Back tomorrow night.

Please let me know?

I appreicate your help!

Greg

The fuse box is located left of the steering column, behind the pocket. Remove the plastic panel under the drivers dash and you will see it....

Awesome!

Hey Mike, you are my hero :)

Black Plug on front of fuse box, PURPLE / white is the one.  My Avic Z1 is happy now!

Thanks so much!

Greg
