alpine nav routes a trail through desert

My boss was in Vegas recently, his nav actually sent him on a trail through the desert.  The Alpine nav is usually quick to tell you that it can not give turn by turn guidance if you venture off of a main road.  Not so much on that day.  It appears that he started the journey in the middle of the trail, however he assured me that the nav brought him off of the main road onto the trail where he stopped and checked the address he had entered, and got a passenger to video the trail.  He posted 2 videos on that popular video hosting website with tube in the name. You can see this by going to that site and searching for "Alpine nav through desert"  It will be the 1st and 2nd videos listed.   Google maps gives the same route.  I don't think you are going to make it in a car.
