hi, i just purchased and installed a new jvc nx7000 with an axxess gmos-04 and a pac steering wheel control interface. i spent sunday installing these in my 07 classic silverado. because of the cost of these items i was forced to buy a china lic. plate rear view cam. the head unit so far seems to be functioning correctly as is the axxess onstar adapt. and the steering interface has been programmed succesfully. my issue is the rear cam. the box it came in has no wiring instructions and the box itself has no actual company name on it, just a picture of a ca. license plate. im not getting any picture when put in reverse. the head unit will switch screens but there isnt any picture it switches to sort of a dk brown glow, but it isnt like the head unit is off.

the wiring for the plate seemed straight forward, rca jack. four pin mini-din and two 20 ga. wires, a red and a white. the rca and mini-din are no brainers, but i had questions on the red and wht wires. the stereo shop said hook the white to ground and the red to positive. he said an ign on or reverse light power would work. i did this and i have nada.

i plugged in the rca on the head unit harness and connected the reverse signal on the head unit harness to the appropriate wire on the axxess module as stated in the instructions. the head unit is programmed to battery for the reverse signal polarity. any help is appreciated. thank you

It's funny cuz I installed a nx7000bt not long ago in this same ride. So just double check your install. Make sure you have that RCA plugged into Camera IN not Video OUT. Make sure you tested for the proper reverse wire. Put the white wire to ground and connect the red wire with the reverse wire as well as with the reverse wire coming out the unit. Don't connect the red to ignition cuz the cam always stays on even when your not in reverse. This reduces the life of the camera. If it still doesn't work, take it back to the shop you bought it from and swap it anew. It could be shot. One question, what is the four pin mini din?

thanks for your reply calitech. i have triple checked my connections, ill go back to the shop with everything hooked-up and let them see for themselves, maybe theyve experienced this before. anyhow, the mini-din is part of the harness this plate cam came with. its basically a "Y" adapter. the bottom of the "Y" has the mini-din (barrel type plug), one of the top legs of the "Y" has an rca plug which runs to the headunit, the other top leg has the red and white wires. so im guessing the mini-din is basically there to group the wires into one plug because thats the plug going to the plate cam. thanks again.

ok, i figured it out. after checking all my connections over and over, then checking the connection at the camera, i said screw it ill try a different rca cable. presto! it turns out the brand new rca cable that i ran was bad right out of the package. i only needed one lead of the rca cable so i seperated the second lead and only ran one, but another lesson i learned from this was, dont seperate the two rca leads just leave them attached that way if one doesnt work its as simple as plugging the other one in at both ends. so i ran another rca cable (with both leads this time) and the camera is working as it should. thanks again calitech, i appreciate your prompt reply.
