I have a 99 Tahoe with a dealer installed drop down 5.6 Lcd that had a VCR (haha) hooked up to it for a long time but was rarely used. Yesterday I installed a new Pioneer AVH-5100dvd in the dash. After wiring everything up I checked it to make sure everything was working properly. My in dash is color but my overhead is in black and white. After turning it on and off a few times it would flash in color and then back to b&w. Ive tried other video components to make sure it wasnt the dash unit. Everything else ive tried is doing the same thing, color then b&w. Has it bit the bullet of is there something I can do? Thanks in advance.

one of the first symptoms of low voltage on the video feed is no color, or blurry picture. If this is the only screen that is connected to the in-dash, then first test the RCA that is running from the in-dash to the flipdown. Either by replacing it or bypassing it.
If RCA is not at fault?
then video amplifier is the solution.

I hooked the old vcr back up and the monitor is showing color now. Im assuming is has something to do with the output signal. Any ideas on that one?

hmmm.. thats strange.
Reset the pioneer. Remove all the power from it for a few minutes and reconnect it. this will erase any settings that you may have changed.

The pioneer has been un plugged many times on this install..there's not much room in a Tahoe dash.haha...I'm really stumped on this one too..I though that it may be the rca wire I was using but it wasn't..
