I'd like to add a Information display to my car ('96 Lumina).  I was thinking about a PS One display.  It would be somewhat easy because it already has a composite input on it.  I was also thinking of building or "rearranging" a PC so that it would fit more compactly into a car.  So basically my question is: Is there anyway to get information from the car's computer and have my Portable computer read it then output it to the LCD screen?  Thanks!

With a 1996 Lumina, I dount they have a kit for that. If they do, it will be specifically for that years lumina ECM.
My friend has a shop, and he needed a computer for a Vette motor, with the ECM. The program and wire harness was made specifically for that ECU. . . He could also program the ECU as well.
Usually, you want Air/Fuel ratio, and RPMS, stuff like that. AutoZone sells the guage pods, and guages tat are REAL nice that have the Air/Fuel ratio, LED guages too, and they (pods) mount on the window struts to your immediate LEFT.
You would basically have to buy the Diagnostics tool for Gm cars, and see what screens it works with. Although the stuff in "The Fast & The Furious" is possible, just with specific cars, engine & ECU combos.
The only other thing they have are those parental monitoring devices, maybe you can buy one for your car, and get it to work. THey only show RPMS and MPH so mommy and addy know if if your're beating the car, or speeding. . . what they won't come out with.
