Hi,

I was just wondering if a dimmer switch is really needed on an lcd screen, can you just twist the two dimmer wires together and not worry about using the switch.

They are not needed but don't twist them together, tie them up seperately.

Never connect stuff together without having a good reason for doing so.
The dimmer wire is so that the navigation screen won't be blindingly bright at night.

is there a way to tell if your tv doesn't work?

I cant get my tv to power up even with a video source, I was thinking its got something to do with the dimmer..

Need more info, make, model, etc.. Illumination wires will not prevent the unit from powering up.
