Kenwood NAV System 2004 Tahoe

Just installed a Kenwood KNA-DV3100 Navigation system with the LZ-800W touchscreen on my 2004 Chevy Tahoe.  Thought I could do a better job than the dealer, but found very little in the area of schematics for the vehicle.  I thought I'd pass on the wiring that worked for that installation.  In this installation, the parking brake safety feature was bypassed by connecting the wire to an accessory with constant 12v+ power and adding a ground.  In the Tahoe, the illumination was tricky, because by using the normal (white) wire in the headlight control, the screen did not change, so we found an alternate, as noted below, that had a 5-volt change when the auto headlights came on - worked great!  Another thing to note is that there are 1 GREEN / WHITE wires behind the instrument panel - use the one in the A4 cavity of the connector for the VSS signal.  Also, measuring voltage from the reverse light - don't be alarmed if it measures higher than 12v - we got 14v from ours, both at the lamp end and at the kick panel.

After trying with various manuals that listed different wire colors with no luck, and two days of having a NAV system that didn't navigate! -  these hookups finally worked. We recommend using a voltage meter if you are unsure of any wire colors or if your setup doesn't match what we have listed here.

UPDATE!!!!!

On the emergency brake bypass - I mentioned that we connected to a 12v constant - sorry - it is actually a ground wire from the cigarette lighter - sorry about mixup.
