I am looking to buy the Kenwood Excelon DDX7015 when it eventually becomes available. However I called Crutchfield and asked them if it would fit in my opening. He said it will not fit directly in the opening; i need some sort of modification for it to fit. I know it almost looks like a 2 DIN opening and I dont kno why it wouldnt fit.

If anyone could tell me what I would need to do to make it fit or if they know it will fit, please let me know!! I would appreciate it!

I believe it is because the face of the factory radio is double din but behind the face the trim is actually smaller. You will need to trim some plastic on the dash bezel and some behind the radio. You will also need to come up with a way to mount it.

Reason why is the deck tapers down in the back. I cant remember for sure but it is either a heating duct or a brace or something of those sorts running behind the deck. It has to be modified if you wanna put in a double din deck

Ford factory radios are a little different. They arent quite a full double din. They are more like a din and a half. Double din radios will be too big for any newer Ford unless you want to mess with serious modding.
