extending a ribbon cable

doing sum modifications to a screen.
need sum help on extending the ribbon cable from the screen to the board. need about 10 feet or so. any one have any good ideas

if there aren't too many wires in the ribbon or you have some time, you can clip the ribbom one by one and add in the wire length that you need if you solder the connection back together. make sure to use the same gauge wire.

how manypins?....... should probly use something sheilded, like a network cable or a parrallel printer cable with ends lopped off.

there's about 12 pins in the cable. about 1 mm apart. never did anything like this. I could be wrong, but i don't believe cutting and extended with wire is possible for this application. any other ideas form u ciruit board guru's????

What size gauge is the wire(22-26AWG?)?
Mutli or single stranded wire?
What signals (video or power and ground)?
Unless you can find the exact connector mate to the end of the connector you are trying to extend -- there is no other way than to solder extensions. A shielded ribbon cable is your best best.
Use shrink tubing after soldering individual wires, then you can tape off with electrical tape, too.
