first off- great site

now the problem...

i currently have a audiovox 5.6in headrest monitor. the wire harness seems to be going bad. image flickers alot. called audiovox and just my luck all parts have been discontinued so now i am looking for a good replacement.

i like te look of the audiovox and the shround was easy to install but picture quality seems kinda cheap.

so what brands are good? an ebay search seems to turn up a bunch of off the wall stuff

Where is this monitor going ? Is it for show or is it for the front passenger to view ? I ask because if it's for show ( in the rear or on the trunk lid ) then I'd go with a cheaper brand like Power Acoustik but if it's for functional reasons like for you or the passenger, then I'd go with a popular brand name like Pioneer, Kenwood, Clarion, etc....

its for function. going in the headrest for the kids to view on road trips.

of course cost is an issue, just looking for a good reliable monitor that will fill up the hole i already cut for the audiovox.

honestly i wish audiovox could send me another harness but they said all part have been discontinued

yeah not luck there either.

spent the morning cleaning all the contacts and it helped out a bit. at least until i decide what brand to try next.

i have been looking at the pioneer avd-w6200 but looks like they mount out side the headrest.  i like the look of the screen mounted flush.

do you know anything about farenheit monitors?

Starvision is what I have been using lately in my customers' cars (and my own, including). They are fantastic. And I just found, they play tetris, too.
I have pics of the install and a PS2 on them if you are interested....

Here are some pics, tucaz520.
The first is just the monitor. Avalailable in black or gray. I chose gray for my own (Mazda6i), it complimented my interior.
They have a second A/V input (the 7"s have 3 A/V inputs), with tons of features. They can be controlled with a remote, too. And they do sound (no speaker, plug in headphones for these models).
(Testing with Resident Evil movie)

I just upgraded the wire to Tsunami 75 Ohm cable, and the picture is 100% better. Total monitor count is3, with a video amplifier, too.

thanks for the pics

dont think i really like the look of the monitors. not to crazy about the headphone and video jack on the front. i did check out the website and a may look into another model

maybe a little body color paint on the shround mike help it out a bit.

does the monitor have a reverse camera seting or does you camera flip the image?

how is the quality of the wire harnes with starvision? honestly audiovox seemed like they used the cheapest stuff they could find.
