Hello all -

I am trying to install DVD + Screen Combo in my Van.

Van Infr : Mercury Vilager . 2002 . Has dome light.

DVD info : BOSS 7 " with DVD combo + plus dome light.

I was told to connect three wires from DVD to Dome light and it will work. I did that it burned the DVD. I got replacement.

I have no Idea How to connect Power, Ground, and dome light wire. I have asked around for installation and they want about $300 . Just to much. I know I have to pay I can;t do it.

I know I can install this DVD with screen in my VAN TOP. Only help I need is wiring. just connection part of it. I could run wires from anywhere in Van. I just don;t know how to and where to get 12 V constant from. I know it will ahve to come from Bettery. But I need to know what other things I need. Words I hear are switch and relay and fuse and stuff.

Could Someone please explain step by step how to install a RED wire from Bettery to DVD. where it goes through and what each part does. Dvd has to start only if my car keys are in car. Can't have my son run down btty every day.LOL. Dome light in DVD should come on if doors are open. I do have FM modual but I will use Cigrettt lighter to connect that unless someone has better Idea.

we install these combos all the time. the constant (12v+) can be tapped into the constant in the dome light along with the ground(-). we usually tie the built in tv dome light with the tv power and it works 99.9% of the time. if you want the tv to shut off with the key then you will need a wire from the tv (acc) to an acc under the dash. you can tie the acc and constant together but you have to manually shut off tv. radio acc usually works fine. if you are burning up the tv then you got some wires crossed. buy a test light from any parts store and check the wires.
