I just purchased an AVN5435 for my 2005 Pathfinder.  Can anyone tell me if you've been able to defeat the safety mechanism to allow DVD watching and NAVI input while driving.  I was thinking of just putting the VSS and the parking brake on a switch.  One switch would connect the parking brake with ground and the other would simply interrup the VSS.  Please let me know if anyone has succesfully accomplished this.

Thanks

does the AVN even give a warning when the parking brake is "applied" and you are driving?

you don't have to interupt the vss wire.

Thanks for the reply!  I'll be wrapping up phase 1 of the install tomorrow.  I'll post back with the results.

DVD plays while driving. Woohoo!  I just grounded the parking brake.  The Nissan Bose radio has the VSS right there in the plug.  Had no problems with that either.  My problems are these...

FM reception is HORRIBLE!  I'm using a diversified adapter and it's very poor reception

The speaker outs for the Bose system are just too hot for the Bose.  My chirps and navi guidance is way too loud.  I'm also getting a little signal noise.  I think I remember Soundgate having an interface so that you use the pre-amp outputs of the radio.  If anyone has experience with this, please chime in.

Thanks again Dirtydemo9

The cheap way is to cut a set of RCA's and connect to the speaker wires on your wire harness, then plug into your RCA pre-outs.  It's pretty hoaky, and you may get some engine noise, but it will get you going for now, until you can find an interface.  As far as the FM reception, make sure there isn't a power antenna lead that needs to be powered up, especially if it is a glass mount
