anyone familiar with the ceiling mount factory dvd player? i want to know how its connected to the head phone jack on the center console. i replaced my factory head unit with an eclipse navigation head unit. i think the factory head unit completed the circuit for the head phones. right now the dvd player plays movies but the head phone jack doesn't work. i need to figure out where the signal is coming from on that dvd player. anyone know how to do this? this is how it's set up right now. the eclipse plays music/dvd's through the car speakers. the factory dvd player will be a seperate unit on it's own and only be heard through the head phones. this way i can still listen to music while the people in the back can watch a movie.

Here's my writeup from an 04 Expedition I believe it uses the same overhead. Drop yours down and take a look if the pins look familiar then you should be set. The audio from the factory DVD player goes from the overhead DVD, to the in-dash radio, to the rear audio control panel, and then back up to the DVD player. Once you remove the factory radio the OEM headphones will no longer function. All you do is remove the factory overhead dvd, and jump the output audio wires to the input audio wires and your headphones will function again. The pins are as follows:
Pin 7: Left Input (+) Red
Pin 17: Left Input (-) White
Pin 5: Left Output (+) White
Pin 15: Left Output (-) Green
Pin 8: Right Input (+) Orange
Pin 18: Right Input (-) Pink
Pin 6: Right Output (+) Red
Pin 16: Right Output (-) Black
So you would jump the pins as follows:
Pin 7 to Pin 5
Pin 17 to Pin 15
Pin 8 to Pin 6
Pin 18 to Pin 16
As mentioned these connections are made @ the overhead DVD player itself, NOT at the back of the OEM radio!

well, i guess the expedition and navigator wiring is different. none of the pins or color of wires exist. i took it to the shop that installed my head unit and they figured it out. no charge. they found the siginal coming from the red and black wires at the back of the dvd player. they tapped it and touched the leads to the head phone jack. you could hear the audio but it was not loud enough. they converted the red and black wires into rca's and installed a line booster to make it louder. they ran the rca's from the dvd player to the center console's head phone jacks and hard wired it. now the audio is very loud through my head phones. i needed head phones with volume control because without that it would play at full blast. now my ceiling mount dvd player isn't useless anymore and people in the back can watch a movie and i can still listen to music through the car speakers or watch another movie/play playstation while my fiance drives. 03 lincoln navigator factory dvd -- posted image.
