I have a buddy that has a 96 lincoln town car limo. I installed an alpine CVA1003 with Nav and a DVD in the car, and didn't realize the screen hits the dash and is blocked from fully extending until I was almost done. He has all the matching stuff, so he would like to keep the current setup, so does anyone have any ideas how I can extend the screen to clear the top of the dashboard? I used a Metra 70-5600 installation kit which mounts pretty flush, I'm thinking maybe a thicker kit will help. It looks like I would need 3 more inches. Any suggestions?

Has anyone had to fabricate anything for this issue?

hey tcool. i have a 03 impala. WIth my alpine D310. my screen when it flips out hits my dash also..AND the opening for the dvd player is like 1/16 of an inch to small.  i sent my car to a buddy to have it modified.  The dash sorta curves in right where the stereo is so my buddy is going to cut along right where it starts to curve and take some fiberglass and bevel it out. re texture it so the glass matches the dash.. and then paint it with the OEM dash color. it's gonna cost me like $450 (some friend).. but.. thats how i am going about getting it down. you can do wonders with fiberglass.

Yikes! Thanks, but I don't want to do that much work (or spend that much money). At that point it would be cheaper for me to buy a double din in dash and sell what I have. I'm curious to see how that comes out, let me know.
