I want to purchase a navigation unit for my mother, but she is not the greatest with these kind of things.  The VCR can pose a challenge for her.  I have been looking at the D1 and the N2 units.  Is it easy to navigate through the menus to select your destination?  Would it be better to have the N2, so I could add the voice command option to it so she could just tell it where she wants to go?  Also, how well does it correct your route if she were to get lost?  Does the D1 have give voice directions on when to turn like the N2 does?  I know this is a lot of questions but I was hoping to get some honest opinions of people who own these units.  Thanks a million.
Good Luck!

They both have the same software and menu system so inputting destinations would be the same on both.  The voice command would probably be useful on the N2 like you mention but other than that they are the same.  It would probably be a good idea to spend some time teaching her to use it.  Its fairly simple once she knows how to enter addresses, phone numbers, the address book, etc.  Probably would be difficult to figure out the first time if you had never used navigation before though.  They both recalculate your route if you go off it, and they both give turn-by-turn voice prompts
