Hello, I upgraded my AVIC-N1with the new N2 DISC, and it put all the safeties back on during install.  Now I am locked out of all DVD and NAV functions while driving.  I was unaware that the upgrade disc would do this.  I know there are a lot of people out there that having the same issues.  One thing that I can rule out is

"Puting a ground wire to the parking break on a toggle switch and switching the flip while driving"

This will not work because if you have all of your safeties off and you could watch DVD's and use your NAV functions while driving, then your parking break wire was already grounded.  Putting a toggle switch on it will do nothing.

The N1 and N2 are not alike in the fact that the N1 does not have the R197 label / wire in which you can configure or alter.  So this means that you cant disassemble the N1 and remove the safety features.

The upgrade creates a software probleme, not hardware probleme for the N1.

The only thing us unfortunates can do is:

1.  Take out our N1 and send it to "A PIONEER SERVICE CENTER".  They will have to erase the disk information so you can re-install the Original disc that came with the N1.    The main service center is in Long Beach, CA.  The # is (213) Pioneer (746-6337).  You can either take it there, or call and they will give you instructions for sending in the unit.  It will take 5 + business days to get your unit back.

2.  Wait until someone comes out with some software updat that will allow us to remove the safeties.

I updated my N1 to take advantage of the Nav Traffic, now I realize it was'nt worth it.  I will wait a couple of weeks before I send mine in.  With all the people on this and other forums having this probleme, I'm sure that someone will come up with something to solve this.  If not, of to Pioneer it goes.

If anyone has any other information or software that can help with this, please "Post It".

P.S.  - Please, none on you safety fanatics put anything on here about driving while watching movies or naving,  i'm sure that everyone on this site are aware of and about how you feel. " SO - HUSH!!!!!!!"

THANK YOU - NSTYL
