Does anyone know if the new "Kenwood DDX 8017" double din head unit will fit in my 2005 Chevy Siverado truck? I have been told from various install shops out here in my town that it would but, then when I try to purchase one of the internet websites they tell me that it will not fit. I could almost bet that the stock unit and this Kenwood deck are similar in size. If anyone could help me with this issue I'd greatly appreciate it.

you should have no problem fitting a double din unit into an 05 silverado, a dash kit like metra 99-2003 will include double din mounting brackets that will make installation fairly easy. I think there is still some modification to the plastic behind the dash that needs to be done, but the opening is big enough.

Hornshockey is correct. As mentioned the only thing you may have to do is to trim some plastic behind the radio in the dash opening to allow room for wiring and plugs. You will need a radio delete module to activate the new radio and keep the integrity of the Class II data system. If it has Onstar, make sure you get a kit that will handle that too. I prefer the Pheripheral kits as they work well, install easily and don't have any noise problems.
