Navigation and ease of use?

I want to do some collective brain picking. People here seem to have good opinions, even if they are different than mine sometimes. I want to know what you think is the most user-friendly navigation on the market today. Even though I have the Pioneer in my car I have had several chances to play with other manufacturers product, and I am assuming others here have too. So what do you think? And when you answer please give a quick reason why you think Brand "A" is easier to use then Brand "B" please. Thanks!!

wifes car has a pioneer d1, i like the interface touch screen is easy to use, i dont like how its hard to scroll through the map since you have to drag your finger. the graphics are fairly nice, i have found that it doesnt know where it is most of the time or thinks addresses are at different parts of the road. the pioneer also i hate that it anounces directions in the "in three tenths of a mile", "in 7 tenths of a mile" who uses tenths! why not stick to a quarter, half or feet, or better yet just use metric. My car i have an alpine d300 with the non touch screen dvd nav, i have gotten use to using the remote, the graphis suck compared to the pioneer unit, the directions are far better than the pioneer, i hate that my house is on the map but my street is part of their " off the map" area in orange. so when i get close to my house it stops and says "you are in the vicinity of your destination, your route guidance is over" what junk that is that it knows my house is near but wont tell me how to get to it. Im thinking of switching to their newer nav system now and try that out. Both seem to load about the same in finding the destination, alpine seems to have alittle faster processing, the pioneer has better rerouting. If i had to choose one or the other id have to go with the pioneer unit right now, alot cheaper and if you just use it for nav it will do you right. my alpine i have never watched a dvd on it yet. There are 10 types of people in the world, ones that understand binary and ones that dont.

I have the D1 and I like it a lot.  The only downfall is the Ipod interface.  As far as never knowing where it is like the guy said above?  Mine does pretty good.  Maybe his connection to his antenna is bad? Mine is usually right on the money as far as what street it's on. How far til the next street etc.  The only thing that i've noticed is that some of the info on the D1's maps are old and it does get dislexic (sp?) sometimes.  It will take me to address 27721 instead of 22721.  But i think that is a fault of the programmer being dislexic.  Not the program.  With the bypass it's a great unit.  There aren't a lot of bells and whistles that might be nice but it does what it does.  Get the D1.

I've used the AVIC's, a Kenwwod, an Alpine and a the Eclipse. By far the Eclipse is the easiest to use. Putting info into it for navigation is just too simple, and the Audio even easier. You don't have to deal with the AVIC headaches of getting it to work while the car is moving. The best part is we do a lot of Toyotas and the Eclipse has Toyota plugs on it.
