ground avic-n3 in 626?

Just installed an N3 in my 95 Mazda 626 and it works great. However, when started (and still in park) I get the parking brake not properly connected message. I didn't do the bypass, but I tried to ground the e-brake green wire so I wouldn't have to hunt for the real one.

I grounded the e-brake sensor at the same grounding point of the headunit. If the parking brake wire is not actually grounded, that means my head unit is not grounded. If this is true, is this a dangerous situation? Would the head unit even be able to turn on if it wasn't grounded?

is your e-brake wire constanly grounded? if it is you will have a problem, will have to be on a switch, or better yet just take the time and hook it up properly to the ebrake.

The radio can get ground from the antenna and lamp circuits. Use a meter to measure the ground on the radio. You may have to hook the parking brake wire (red at switch) up to clear the problem. The Pioneer may indeed need to see it lose ground when moving.

That's a good thought about the unit needing to see a voltage change in the parking brake circuit, however, this is immediately after startup and while still parked. Although anal, I doubt the Pioneer expects someone to start the car, take off the brake, and reapply it before moving.

sparkie is right the e-brake has to be engauged then disengauged then reengauged to properly function video palyback, so having it always grounded would not work.

Alpine makes you do this plus makes you apply the foot brake to boot !
